Nearly Three Weeks New.

Comments

Tomorrow he'll be three weeks.
Where has the time gone?

For a long time I haven't wanted to write anything here; I haven't wanted to share my life with anyone because I wanted to protect the things I was going through in my pregnancy. And now so much has gone on in our lives that I don't have a clue where to begin.

These nearly three weeks have been filled with happy and sad tears, lots of reflection, loss, new life, renewed hope and endless kindness.

At the End of the Day.

Comments
Love him

Today this is the only photo I managed to get of Roman. I'm drawing a close on my 366 Project and these days I'm getting close to the end of our days and remembering I haven't taken my photo for the day.

I'm also finding that we're increasingly indoors these days due to the weather and darkness - dark by 4pm, anyone? Such is life in Scotland. Amongst the gloom of the night and the cold of the frost I found a warm spot in my heart for this little boy. In amongst his cheeky antics of bouncing on my bed and trying to rid me of my moisturising cream I did what I always do; laughed and just loved him.

It's also startling to me how much he's grown (just over 3ft now!) but that his little face still stays rounded; so much like the little face that was staring back at me this time last year, yet he's grown and stretched out in every way possible.

Fluff.

Comments

I love the fluff/bed head look when Roman wakes, he's like a little fluffy chick with this massive fluff situation going on at the back of his head ;).

Sleepy Head.

Comments

It's been a sleepy past few days. Naps and longer bed time sleeps - thank goodness. I love you Roman but sometimes you're so very tired and fed up with it that it drives me to feeling like I can't do anything for you but put you down for a sleep.

Sleep for you is magical at times. I get an over tired cranky boy who goes to sleep, waking up quite happy and very talkative. Or sometimes a little artist who will want to paint or draw for ages. And sleep, well you can't seem to do it without your little friend Deacon (pictured in your Vulcan grip above) who you've had since babyhood.

You (3 weeks and a bit old) and a plumper, fresher looking Deacon.

P.S Bryan will be taking over the photos for the next few days because I am burnt out and sick. Normal blogging and picture taking service will resume shortly :).

Boots.

Comments

My aunt, Roman's great aunt, visited us for two days and went home yesterday. She spoils us with her time and generosity. She bought Roman the loveliest pair of rain boots (much needed in Scotland) with his favourite things, dinosaurs, on them. He loves his boots and has perfected slipping them on and off very expertly. As soon as he was dressed today he slipped these back on, after running about with a nappy and his boots on in the morning, and kept telling us he wanted to go outside.

He was very happy to be outside, with his boots on. And then to top it all off the sun was out and a train rode past when we were in the garden.

Roman waving bye bye to the train as it passed.

Popcorn In The Air...

Comments

This is the face of the boy who walked into the kitchen and, with his nose, discovered that popcorn was not far behind him. "POPCORN!" he yelped at me. "Mmm, popcorn." He disappeared into the living room where a bowl of unwanted, slightly sun tanned, popcorn lay in wait. These were the bits and pieces of popcorn that we hadn't wanted to eat this afternoon, while we attempted to watch a movie (our Internet timed out a lot) as Roman was over at gran and papa's house.

I came through to the living room to catch him eating all the rubbishy bits of popcorn. "MMMM! POPCORN!" he declared, shoving fistfuls of the stuff into his open mouth while I watched from the sidelines, totally mystified at his popcorn obsession. I haven't really been one to munch down on it in the past but the funniest thing happened when I got pregnant: I became obsessed with it. If we went to the cinema or the scent of cooking popcorn filled my nose I needed a piece of that stuff, I was drawn to it and would even eat the rubbishy burnt bits left over in the pot. It was disgusting. And today, that memory came back to me. This popcorn obsessed toddler was a popcorn obsessed fetus in utero.

I have a feeling that popcorn will be in all our futures ;).

Looks.

Comments

Sometimes I don't know who he looks like and that's when I remember, he looks like Roman ;). He has my chin, lips, face shape, button nose and the upper half of his face (eyes, eyebrows, forehead and hairline) is so like Bryan's. But he looks so like my dad whenever he smiles or is up to something cheeky - or as my sister said, 'he looks like dad when dad is having a mad half hour.' Ha.

But he's Roman. He's not a carbon copy of me, Bryan, my dad, my mum etc...he shares genetics with us so it's no wonder he looks like us but he's Roman. He looks like Roman, suits his name and I can't imagine him as anything or anyone else. And even though he's only been with us for two and a bit years, it feels like he's always been there. My little side kick, my friend, my son, my baby and my boy.
