Roman frequently dresses himself. He'll choose odd socks, two (sometimes five) pairs of pants, shoes and nothing else to wear if he can get away with it but mostly he's actually got a great sense of style, of what he feels comfortable wearing and he just happens to look good wearing it.
I try my hardest not to get annoyed or frustrated when he does silly things with the choices he makes...like layering up the pants he'll wear and then not being able to get them off in time and peeing in all five pairs of pants (underpants.) I let him have the freedom of choice and of dressing himself. Next on the list for clothes and style will be Roman choosing his own clothes and I can't imagine it; but nor could I picture the day he'd be laying the law down on what he wore and then slipping into all his outfits so expertly.

I managed to snap this stylish photograph as Roman was attempting to remove the skeleton suit he'd been wearing all afternoon. He paired the suit with one welly boot and one shoe (both on the wrong foot, of course.) I suppose this is what happens when you're a neglectful parent who is trying to de-clutter their living room and the toddler dresses himself. Oh his sense of style is wonderful, I absolutely adore his fashion choices.

Allowing him the freedom of dressing himself while I sort, organise and tidy our bedroom for our trip tomorrow.
Roman chose his summer hat, pyajama top that he already had on, a pair of grey and red stripe jogging bottoms and matching dinosaur boots. I was impressed with his matching clothes; something I'm no good at as I just throw on clothes that are comfortable.
Roman seems to really enjoy the freedom of self dressing, he has since he was months old, and I have totally indulged this but there has always been a little struggle with getting trousers all the way up. Well today he mastered this, for the first time ever. He was oh so pleased with himself and was even more delighted that I'd witnessed this event, too. "YAY!" he cheered himself, realising what he'd accomplished. I couldn't help myself and burst into a chorus of cheers and 'woohoo's', which very much pleased this little man. Oh how proud I am in these moments - and always.

Fashion is a tricky thing for me. It's something I want to be good at; whether that is co-ordinating colours to compliment my skin tone, dressing for looks instead of comfort (sometimes) and just generally carrying off that effortlessly dressed look.
I'm afraid I lack a lot of fashion skills and my grungy/scruffy look has followed me through my whole life. But that's on trend, isn't it? Yesterday I talked about genetics and things that are inherited and today I'm thinking along the same lines. I don't think Roman has the scruffy style gene (although, Bryan, you do. You never iron shirts...or well, anything) and to be perfectly honest I think it's a matter of being surrounded by sharp dressers and people who know just the right clothes to buy - my choices can be questionable at best.
I'm trying to be 'better' at fashion, especially because I am quite vain and like the thought of people complimenting me and my family on how well we dress yet I can't seem to whip up the motivation required for that and focus all my energy on this little model of mine...
